Asger Hamerik (1843 - 1923) was a Danish composer of classical music.
He left Denmark to learn music inside Germany (with Hans von Bülow) and France (with Hector Berlioz). Around 1871 he became musical director of the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. He sooner or later returned to Denmark inside 1900, but experienced limited profits there. He wrote many symphonies, chamber music and popular orchestral music based on Scandinavian folk tunes.
